Limited to just 40 examples, the Taycan Turbo K-Edition features stunning Korean-inspired graphics and logos that showcase the possibilities of the Sonderwunsch programme
From music to cinema, art to fashion, the global reach of Korean culture has grown hugely over the past decade. Korea has a heritage of craftsmanship that goes back many centuries – and Porsche celebrated this in the form of a unique limited-edition Taycan Turbo model made exclusively for the Korean market. The Taycan Turbo K-Edition has been created by the Sonderwunsch specialists at Porsche to mark ten years of Porsche Korea. This is the story behind the striking design of this all-electric sportscar.

Spelling the word ‘Taycan’ in the Korean alphabet and incorporating a stylised racetrack, this logo on the Taycan Turbo K-Edition is hand painted in high-gloss black on the front wing by the Sonderwunsch team Photo: Porsche
Exterior design highlights of the Taycan Turbo K-EditionThe Porsche Taycan Turbo K-Edition was created by the Sonderwunsch experts at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur along with the Style Porsche design department and Porsche Korea. Highlights include a number of Korean design and cultural influences that have been incorporated in the finished car.The exterior of the car features a unique logo that’s based on a historical Korean royal stamp. In Korea, the royal stamp was a traditional way of indicating an item had been certified by the country’s rulers. Hand painted by the Sonderwunsch team in high-gloss black, you can see the logo above the driver’s side charging port door. The symbol – created by Style Porsche designers – consists of characters from the Korean alphabet to spell out the word ‘Taycan’ and also incorporates a representation of a racetrack. The logo is further featured on the car’s interior too.

An unmistakable feature of the Taycan Turbo K-Edition is a unique silhouette graphic that depicts a Korea-inspired skyline Photo: Porsche
The eye-catching detail doesn’t end there. Another special graphic has been created for the Taycan Turbo K-Edition – one that pulls in influences old and new. Presented as a skyline in silhouette, it features typical Korean buildings and landscapes and includes a cityscape of Seoul, a traditional hanok house with its distinctive roof and the Baekdu-daegan mountain range. Hand painted, once again, in high gloss black by the craftspeople from the Sonderwunsch programme, it scrolls memorably across the rear spoiler of the Taycan Turbo K-Edition. It also appears in the entry guard of both driver and front passenger doors. The Korean inspiration for the colour choices for the Taycan Turbo K-EditionOak GreenThe pine tree maintains its green colour throughout all four seasons, representing unchanging resilience and eternal vitality for Koreans. This reflects the Korean spirit of steadfast determination to endure and overcome challenges. The pine tree’s green colour represents this strong will, perseverance and passion. Just as the pine tree grows steadily in any environment, the unique tenacity of Koreans in the face of challenges and adversity is similarly unyielding.Ruby RedThe red colour used in the royal robes of Korean kings holds a deeper meaning beyond being just a colour. It symbolises the king’s absolute authority, powerful energy, sacrifice and protection, regeneration and innovation, as well as celebration and prosperity. It continues in modern Korean uniforms, richly reflecting Korea’s history and culture. Within this, we can see strong leadership and the will for continuous development. Red represents regeneration and innovation. In a rapidly changing world, Korea remains a nation of constant growth and innovation, and the intensity of red symbolises this creative and innovative energy.
MacadamiaThis colour, which evokes the warm and soft image of Korea’s rich land, represents earth and wood, symbolising the spirit of Korea, where generosity and harmony are valued virtues. It is often found in traditional ceramics, woodworking, and classical literature, adding depth to Korean culture and to its long history and cultural heritage. This colour blends naturally into modern interiors and design, representing a harmonious combination of tradition and modernity and reflects the ongoing effort in Korean contemporary life to preserve the beauty of tradition.Ipanema BlueThis blue colour, reminiscent of the Korean sea, conveys a sense of mystery, coolness, and peace. At the same time, like its dynamic waves, it evokes the global impact of K-culture. This colour symbolises the worldwide influence of K-culture spreading beyond Korea’s seas. K-dramas, K-pop and K-movies are loved by fans worldwide, touching and inspiring many. This blue represents K-culture’s role in transcending cultural barriers, connecting and blending diverse cultures and people.Alex GreyThe deep grey colour, reminiscent of Korean basalt, exudes a calm and refined elegance. This colour embodies dignified traditional culture, such as the scholar’s hat and Korean ink wash painting, expressing both strength and serenity found in nature. The aesthetics of ink wash paintings have significantly influenced contemporary art and design, with young artists reinterpreting traditional techniques with a modern sensibility. Traditionally, grey symbolises sophistication and restrained beauty, and yet it pairs well with modern minimalism and sleek fashion trends.
